The latest version of Cscape™, Version 8.80 is now available for download. It provides a number of enhancements designed to improve your user experience.
Cscape 8.80 supports the whole X-series range platform. Please see the Selection Table below.
Cscape software combines graphical ladder diagram programming (based on IEC-1131) with operator interface development to completely integrate the control package. Its straightforward approach to programming combines logic with messaging and networking, and offers:
|
|
Logic
Cscape Features a powerful IEC-1131 style free form, drag and drop
ladder editor. Nearly 100 functions to choose from, including
conversion, string handling, advanced math, flow control and more.
IEC-61131 languages now come as standard with Cscape.
Operator Interface
Designed to simplify development of your Operator Interface screens
while you develop your control logic. Screens can be called up from
ladder logic or operate independently. Use a single set of I/O
references-no duplication of effort.
I/O configuration
Configure all your I/O from Cscape manually or automatically-with
over 60 I/O modules to choose from. Built-in expansion and remote
I/O are all handled in a straight-forward manner.
System Requirements
Pentium 3 450 MHz, 256MB RAM, Windows 2000 or XP Professional
Cscape 8.80 introduces the new XL6e and the following features:-
Cscape Improvements
To make use of these new features in Cscape 8.80 the OCS requires 12.50 Firmware or later.
New XL series unit - XL6e
XL6e is based on the XL6 chassis with on board Full Ethernet Functionality (including Modbus TCP Master/Slave, FTP and HTTP Server).
Previously USB connections to Horner devices were made by selecting the COM port on which the USB driver had installed itself. Now Horner devices and Horner USB to serial converters are recognized and can be specifically selected.

Communication via Downloadable Protocols and custom-made Programs (Open Comm Block) is now offered for the following Baud Rates: - 10400 - 14400 - 28800
|
ASCII field support (SMS messaging)
|
Incoming and Outgoing SMS messages can be configured with dynamic ASCII fields which effectively increases number of messages that can be serviced by the OCS. |

Frequently it is useful to allow inputs of the OCS to act as keys pressed on the OCS, for example when a unit is mounted behind a screen in hazardous areas. |
Individual Items within a menu item may now be enabled or disabled 'on the fly' allowing machine operation to be customized to suit current machine state.
OCS projects may now be translated to as many as 24 languages. The languages can be switched between 'on the fly' in the target system.

Previously the integer scaling function only allowed the output to change in steps of '4'. The algorithm has been improved to correct this.
Nx22x Remote Access screen fix. Previously remote viewing any of the Nx22x series units lead to a garbled screen being displayed.
Over zealous reporting of 'Incorrectly Terminated Branch' removed.
In previous releases (Cscape 8.70B, 8.60B) we have introduced a few key improvements, which are still present in the newest release.

Corrected Issues
Support for QX351 & QX751 units

Horner Product Range is once again expanding. The QX series have 4 new models to offer:
All of them supported by Cscape 8.70. |
GPRS Configurator improvements
Access Point Configuration is available through Registers and GPRS Service provider can be also selected manually (applies to GPRS add-on on XLe/XLt/XL6 only).

The logic module concept introduced in Cscape 8.5 is extended to allow specific subroutine blocks to be created which may be called either from the main organisational modules, or from each other. |
New, standardized communications dialog incorporating TAPI (Windows Telephony Interface). It is no longer necessary to enter a 'Modem initialisation String' when using Cscape over a modem line - the modem is selected from a list of Windows installed modems and is automatically configured by Windows. This dialog is now common between Cscape, Envision RV, and Envision FX.

With extended accumulator capacity (now 32 bits) and improved choice of resolution (1ms & 1s added) you can now measure process time even more accurately.

A new button will be available to connect and disconnect Cscape
from the Target device. This will allow a much quicker means of
releasing the serial port if it is required to run another package
which uses the serial port (Envision, SCADA, OPC, |

A new timer graphics object will read a timer accumulator (or any other register) and display it formatted directly as a timer (for example 632 suitably formatted would appear as 01:03.2)

Move Protocol Settings between ports
![]() |
Ability to easily move protocol settings from port-to-port, without the need to erase and manually re-enter the settings. Change the whole configuration in just one simple click. |
Envision RV support - Envision models and Move to Envision feature

New models: Creating screens for PC use including larger 1920x1080 pixels widescreen Move to Envision automatically releases PC communication ports and starts Envision RV with the current Cscape project (one click of the mouse!) |

Modbus/TCP (slave) Ethernet protocol support for XLe, XLt, or XL6 controller with the HE-XEC Ethernet Communications Module installed. This is accomplished in Cscape using the "Open Port" and "Modbus slave" function blocks

Previous releases of Cscape have supported 'Project Files' where the information for how the component .csp files of project fitted together was stored.
Several users made an assumption that all the information for the project was stored in that single file. It was foreseen that users might archive this single file and in the future when attempting to reload the file would find out that the file was worthless without component .csp files.
The new project file format will contain the .csp files and so contain all the information required to archive and transfer an entire project.
Plus you have all the benefits of past Cscape™ releases:
